It was an idea whose time had come.  At least the spirited band of seven enthusiasts thought so.  The year was 1991.  Upon arriving at old car meets, owners of Fords, Chevys, Mopars and the like - vintage, classic and custom - recognized the need for a club without restrictions on model year, make or ownership.

The founders wanted a club that would be run by the membership, not by any one individual. Charter members Karen Bonner, Dale Clark, Joe Conway, Richard Dunn, Mary Lee Winebrenner, Michael King and James Taccino had a meeting at St Patrick's Hall in Mount Savage, Maryland, after a cruise-in at the Mount Savage Firehall. From that meeting, the Classy Chassis Car Club was born. An executive committee was formed to make suggestions to the club and then bring them before the membership to discuss any events, activities and car issues. The committee also makes impromptu decisions on behalf of the club when necessary. Classy Chassis Car Club was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1993.

The Classy Chassis Car Club is open to anyone with an interest in cars and car events. A prospective member must submit an application for membership. The application is presented to the club before being voted on by the organization. When a person joins the club, a $12.00 membership fee is paid annually. The club has seen continual growth and presently has over 170 members.

Club meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month. Meeting locations vary and are announced prior to each meeting.

The club hosts approximately 25 Cruise-ins annually. It is the heart and soul of Cruisin' Main Street Frostburg and has a fun-filled activities schedule. The club also enjoys taking an active part in the community as a non-profit organization. The Classy Chassis Car Club supports local organizations and events such as: Historic Frostburg, Cumberland Nursing Home, Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Moran Manor Nursing Home, Frostburg Derby Day, Frostburg Day of Caring & Sharing & various other local events. The club donates time and brings out their rides for many worthwhile projects such as Salem Children's Home and Make-a-wish Foundation. It also donates money to non-profit groups such as the Salem Children's Trust, Toys for Happiness, Beall High School, Allegany County League for Crippled Children, Rio No-kill Dog Shelter, Union Rescue Mission, Mt. Savage Lions Club, and Frostburg Elks. But, intrinsically, the CCCC is everywhere that classic cars are celebrated.

To achieve successful car cruises the CCCC focuses on making all visitors, participants and friends comfortable and welcome. Since the Classy Chassis Car Club is a family oriented organization, it has one main principle - friends are more important than beautiful cars. Although sometimes debated that food is the main interest, people come to the club's meetings, events and cruise nights to see friends.

The Classy Chassis Car Club's purpose is to provide a forum for individuals who enjoy sharing and interest in automobiles and who enjoy and seek the fellowship of other car enthusiasts. So, shine your Chevy, detail your Deuce Coupe, hustle your Hot Rod or just bring your chair - it is a blast from the past for everyone to relive those "Happy Days"!
